This piece by Bach is one of my all-time favourites to play. It's a Prelude, so it's meant as an opportunity for the player to settle in, warm up, and just enjoy the music. Of course it wasn't composed for the guitar since the instrument hadn't evolved to solo status at that time in history, but I think the transcription works beautifully. For the guitar, the piece is transposed to the key of D with a dropped D tuning to make it easier to play.
The Prelude is the first of three pieces in the group: Prelude, Fugue and Allegro in Eb Major by J.S. Bach, and was originally written for Lute or Harpsichord. It even contains the Fibonacci Sequence in its harmony, which might explain why it's so utterly magical!
Fun fact: Bach's original manuscript sold at Christies on July 13th in 2016 for £2,518,500!
