Prelude and Toccata in D Organ Solo - Digital Sheet Music

PRELUDE AND TOCCATA for ORGANTotal playing time: Appx. 5:00 Concert venue: Autumn, All Saints/All Souls, AnyThe dark yet exciting textures here lend themselves well to late autumn, and the prayerful qualities of the Prelude and the Toccata’s interlude also give honor to the celebrations of All Saints and All Souls.A work composed for the more advanced organist, it begins with a plaintive and almost improvisational Prelude. This is immediately followed by a rapid, forward-moving Toccata. And yet the Toccata itself takes a rest during a slower passage, a passage influenced both by Marian and Allhallowtide spirituality. It then rapidly paces excitedly to its thunderous conclusion.Due to its length and the style of the music itself...I have been complimented/flattered by comments that it is in the style of Max Reger although it was not my intention to emulate his style...I see this as a concert piece as opposed to a piece to be played within church services.
