Composed by Vidas Pinkevicius. This edition: pdf, streaming. Classical, Contemporary, New Age, Sacred, Wedding. Score. 18 pages. Secrets of Organ Playing #1269635. Published by Secrets of Organ Playing (A0.1705813).Prayers Without Words is a new collection of six original cantabiles, written in a lyrical and contemplative style. It was first improvised on the one manual and pedal, 8 stop organ built by the anonymous builder at the beginning of the 20th century at Vilnius St. Anne's Church and later transcribed into this collection. Designed to highlight the expressive qualities of the organ, each piece may be performed either on a single manual with pedals or on a two-manual and pedal instrument, making them accessible to a wide range of players and instruments.
No. 1 in C major, Op. 375 – A gentle meditation with a flowing right-hand melody. The middle section explores colorful excursions into E♭ major, D♭ major, and F major before returning peacefully to C major.
No. 2 in E♭ major, Op. 377 – A lyrical and calming piece, featuring a graceful right-hand theme. The contrasting middle section moves through F major and G minor before resolving back to the home key.
No. 3 in F major, Op. 378 (3/4 time) – A cantabile of quiet contemplation. The middle episode journeys into E♭ major and C minor, with the solo melody playable on either the same or a separate manual.
No. 4 in A major, Op. 388 – A meditative work with a singing right-hand line. The central section provides rich contrasts through C major, G major, G minor, and A minor, before returning to the brightness of A major.
No. 5 in G major, Op. 389 – A lyrical meditation with a serene melody. The middle section turns to B♭ major and B♭ minor, offering darker colors before the return to G major.
No. 6 in C major, Op. 390 – A dignified and solemn conclusion to the set, offering a prayerful character and noble simplicity.
This collection will enrich any service or recital with its variety of moods—calm, expressive, and contemplative—providing organists with music that truly embodies prayers without words. Video example is Prayer Without Words No. 1.
