Another very rare chart from the Count Basie book. Pound Cake is Basie doing what he did best - pumping out swinging blues-based riff charts. This chart also features a rarity - a longish solo spot for Baritone Sax, and there are other solos for Alto 1 (cued on 2), Tenor 1 (cued on 2), Trumpet 2 and Piano. All of the solos are written out, the brass ranges are very moderate and there is loads of brass fan hat (or plunger) work, so the visual appeal is high too.
