In 1969, the composer and musician Gershon Kingsley (b. 1922) composed and recorded an instrumental work that was to become the first true success of electronic music. In 1972, the group Hot To Mound recorded a new version of Popcorn. Since that time, the world has seen hundreds of different versions including techno, jazz, ska, disco, rock, punk and now, more surprising, a version for your Concert Band.
Der deutschstämmige jüdisch-amerikanische Komponist Gershon Kingsley schrieb Popcorn 1968, in der frühen Synthie-Pop-Ära. Nach der ersten Aufnahme von einer Gruppe mit dem passenden Namen Hot Butter interpretierten zahllose Künstler und Gruppen das pfiffige Instrumentalstück neu: es wurde für Filmmusiken, Computerspiele und zuletzt gar als Klingelton verarbeitet- und erfreut sich immer noch größter Beliebtheit. Für Blasorchester ist Popcorn nun in einer Bearbeitung von Jiro Yoshida erhältlich.

En 1972, le groupe Hot Butter enregistre une nouvelle version de Popcorn. Depuis, des centaines de reprises ont été réalisées dans le monde entier. Il existe des versions techno, jazz, ska, disco, rock, punk et, plus surprenant, une version pour Orchestre d’Harmonie….
