From the debut album of Roy Hargrove's funk/soul/hip-hop fusion project the RH Factor, 2003's "Hard Groove," came the late trumpet player's timeless collaboration with legendary rapper Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest; and Queen of Neo-Soul and childhood collaborator Erykah Badu; complete with Roy's brilliant overdub arranging of the horns. This rendition builds off of Roy's horn writing and features space for an open verse from a spoken word artist or rapper, a trumpet solo, and vocals a la Erykah, with plenty of solo flourishes and lush horn textures throughout. Highest trumpet range is B6 concert pitch, opt. D6.
