Here is the beautiful final movement from Giacomo Carissimi's oratorio Jephte. Originally for SATB choir, soloist, narrator and instruments, here is a new arrangement for men that allows them to explore this important musical style. Along with the Baroque style and the Latin text, this piece also lends itself to teach legato line, imitation and the emotional context of loss and lamentation.

Inspiring Carissimi for Male Voices
I really enjoy singing this arrangement of 'Plorate Filii Israel' from Carissimi's Jephte. The emotional depth of the lamentation is very moving, and the TTBB arrangement sounds rich and full. It's challenging enough to feel rewarding but not overly daunting for an adult learner. A great way to engage with Baroque choral music and experience its beauty firsthand.

Solid Baroque Repertoire for Men's Choir
A reliable arrangement of Carissimi's classic for TTBB. This octavo is well-suited for formal concert gigs, providing a faithful rendition of the final movement from Jephte. As expected for this style, there are no chord symbols, relying on traditional notation. At 8 pages, it's manageable for performance, fitting right into a serious men's chorus program. A dependable choice.

Superb Vocal Development for TTBB
As a vocal coach, this TTBB arrangement is excellent for developing blend and expressive singing in male ensembles. The 'legato line' and 'imitation' elements are perfect for teaching nuanced vocal production within the Baroque idiom. While there's no piano accompaniment, the vocal parts create a rich, supportive texture, allowing singers to truly focus on intonation and ensemble sound. Highly recommended for male choruses.
