Derek Hasted writes "This song burst back into my consciousness when it was played as a Viennese Waltz in the BBC TV program “Strictly Come Dancing”.
The ponderous, downbeat, original became light, inspiring, uplifting and very beautiful.
Here’s the version that was on TV - the same key as the original but slightly shorter.
One guitar takes the tune, the other (with the bottom string tuned to D) takes the accompaniment - there is really no seamless way to swap roles partway through, so as well as a concert piece it’s an excellent Student/Teacher duet to teach some rhythms that are unexpected.
