"Pique Dame" by Franz von Suppé premiered in the Austrian city of Graz on 20 June 1864. It was a relaunch of an operetta two years before, which had no success. Also this operetta did not reach a performance in the capital Vienna, but its overture became worldwide known. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2015 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, repeated on 6 January 2019 at the same event and broadcasted live by Austrian television.
