Composed by Leigh Harline. Arranged by Eric R. This edition: pdf. 20th Century, Broadway, Film/TV, Musical/Show. Score. 5 pages. Overture & Storybook Musical Arrangements #1331166. Published by Overture & Storybook Musical Arrangements (A0.1770748).
'Sinister Stromboli' is a soundtrack cue from Disney's animated classic Pinocchio (1940) with dramatic scoring composed by Leigh Harline (also known for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, 1937). In this scene following Pinocchio's performance of "I've Got No Strings", Stromboli captures Pinocchio, and plots a greedy scheme to exploit his talents. The scene ends optimistically, as Jiminy Cricket's leitmotif is heard as he follows Stromboli's wagon and the film transitions to the "Sad Reunion" cue.
In 'Sinister Stromboli', Leigh Harline embodies his signature 'villain' underscoring approach, comparable to many of the Evil Queen's sequences in Snow White. This cue includes Pinocchio's leitmotif, the melody from "Little Wooden Head" (presented here in a minor key).
Pinocchio earned 2 Academy Awards for the Walt Disney Studios, Best Music (Original Score) and for Best Music (Original Song) for "When You Wish Upon a Star". Orchestrations for Pinocchio (1940) were done by Edward Plumb, Frederick Stark, and Charles Wolcott.
This arrangement for solo piano is a reduction of the full orchestra, and is suited for Intermediate pianists. Chords are marked throughout.
