Excellent method
I've used the Kasschau Piano course for all my piano students for over 21 years. If you want the very best method for your students I highly recommend using this more advanced course. The selection of pieces in each book are thoroughly enjoyed by my students and develop their musical skills far more advanced than other methods available. If you want the best students you need to give them the best method - which is Howard Kasschau!

Great method books
When I was studying piano with the John Thompson method i felt i was being asked to progress too quickly. Then I found a new teacher who started me on selections by schirmer for intermediate piano compiled by Howard Kasschau and I found i enjoyed playing again. Unfortunately this book is long out of print. Now decades later i use the Howard Kasschau method books because the pieces are varied and enjoyable. The selections include Happy birthday and jazz pieces. You'll find a good selection of pieces and I love that Morning is included.

Good Alternative to Thompson
This series is a nice alternative to John Thompson's red course. It flows without the gaps of Thompson. In fact, this book can help bridge the gap for a student using Thompson. The pieces are nice, and there is a good emphasis on teaching touch and expression. The progression of key signatures is slower in this course than in Thompson. Plan on spending two years in this book and in each of the following.
