Schroeder, who taught for many years at the Cologne Academy of Music, wrote these previously unpublished “Pezzi speciali” in 1983. As the title suggests, these are “mood pieces” where the varying tempi and techniques employed give each movement its particular individual character. This cycle is suitable for performance in concerts of organ music, though the movements may also be used individually within church services.
