Penny Lane" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released in February 1967 as a double A-side single with "Strawberry Fields Forever". It was written primarily by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney songwriting partnership. The lyrics refer to Penny Lane, a street in Liverpool, and make mention of the sights and characters that McCartney recalled from his upbringing in the city.
Arranged standard clarinet quintet. (Eb, 2Bb, alto and bass)
Alternative Bb parts provided for both Eb and alto.
I have made the decision to arrange this piece in Bb to suit the playing of the clarinet quintet.The original is in B)
The melody is shared amongst the top instruments, the bass plays the walking bass line
The solo (piccolo trumpet in the original) is played by the Eb/Clt. 1.
I have tried to avoid tutti throughout.
