Pavane (Opus 50) was composed in 1887. Originally for piano, it is best known in a version for orchestra and optional chorus. It is perhaps Fauré’s best known work.
Instrumentation: 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Bassoons, 2 B-flat Clarinets, Bass Clarinet, Flügelhorn, 2 F Horns, String Bass, and Marimba.
This arrangement is in G Minor which is one half-step higher than the original. It is rated Grade 4.5 and is suitable for advanced-intermediate musicians and beyond. Musicians of all ages and abilities will enjoy playing this outstanding music.
