One of my favourite classical Christmas pieces - the pastorale from Corelli's "Fatto per la notte di Natale"/Christmas Concerto (or Concerto Grosso No. 8), here arranged for two violins and organ.
The solo material has been slightly redistributed, in order to make the 2nd violin part slightly easier: there's now only one bit where the parts are crossing and all the 3rd position bits are in violin 1. This way, it's now much more accessible for violin students to play. I'd recommend a minimum of Grade 3/4 for the violin 1 part, as it does have some 3rd position bits, and the violin 2 could now be managed by a grade 2/3, depending on how confident they are with the low 1st finger and switching between low and high 2nd fingers, and there's the occasional high 3rd finger too.
The organ part has been kept quite simple, in order for a student to be able to play it (or a violin teacher whose first study isn't the organ, but they can play a bit). There are less notes to play in the quiet dynamics, building to full chords in the big Forte passages: this way, there are natural dynamics, and you are less dependent on being confident at switching between stops.
This arrangement is intended to be played at either: 1) a school assembly (if in a church, or if there is an organ in the assembly hall) 2) by professional duos +organist for a winter wedding/christmas service (if a pro violin duo is using this arrangement, you can switch to the original solo violin 1 and 2 parts if you prefer - they will also work with this organ part)
