"Pastime Paradise" is one of Stevie Wonder's classic hits from his album, "Songs in the Key of Life." The meaning of the song has a lesson of life related to the album title. The late rapper, Coolio recorded it and changed the lyrics to "Gangsta's Paradise." It was used it in the film, "Dangerous Minds," which also became a television series, which was short-lived. The setting was in an urban school. Mr. Robinson arranged it according to Stevie Wonder's recording, plus he added his own interlude and closing section leading to the final two measures. It is written for mass string orchestra and light percussion. The claves and cabasa gives it a mysterious flavor. There is also a Latin rhumba in the bridge. If you can find a gong, it comes in on the very last note.
