Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Kamada; Mikio. This edition: pdf. Baroque, Chamber. 10 pages. ACORDO Sheet Music #1446597. Published by ACORDO Sheet Music (A0.1887922).
The original comes from Harpsichord Suite No. 7, HWV 432 by Handel. Following a four-bar theme, the work unfolds through fifteen variations. It is a celebrated masterpiece, renowned for its grand and brilliant character, and is perhaps famous in the arrangement for violin and viola by the Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen (1864–1935).
This string trio arrangement remains as faithful as possible to the original work, with the exception of an optional change in the final variation. While the final variation is originally written in two voices—with the viola part primarily doubling the violin an octave below—I felt that expanding it to three voices in the last two measures would provide a more brilliant conclusion. Consequently, I have added several chordal notes to the viola part that do not appear in the original score. These additions are marked in red within the ossia. Please feel free to try both versions (the standard black notes and the red ossia notes) and perform whichever you prefer.
This arrangement is designed to ensure an engaging and enjoyable performance experience for every member of the trio.
