The first movement, a passacaglia, is a set of variations on a theme. The second movement is a lyrical melody for the solo trumpet stop influenced by the theme of the passacaglia. It is suitable for the bridal procession at the start of a wedding ceremony. The indicated registration is only a guide. Both movements can easily be played on a small two manual instrument, e.g.in the absence of a trumpet stop the solo can be played on Gt 8 4 (22/3) 2 diapasons accompanied by Sw 8 & 4 diapasons and Ped 16 coupled to Sw.
