Martin Bresnick's Parisot for Twelve Cellos offers a musical portrait of his admired colleague Aldo Parisot. Divided into three movements to be performed without pause, Paradox, Parallels, and Paragon, each represent attributes of the great cellist and teacher and reflect on Bresnick and Parisot's shared musical path. This unique orchestration is a bold addition to the instrument's repertoire.
My work for the Yale Cellos Parisot is, perhaps, a musical portrait or temporalrevelation of my dear friend and admired colleague Aldo Parisot. The work is in threemovements (the second and third played without pause), each named for attributesof the great cellist and teacher or, as in the second, our shared musical path.
