Daniel Dorff has arranged the famed Pachelbel Canon in D as solo with piano accompaniment for all standard instruments, as well as for several ensembles. We now present three new piano trio arrangements with new opportunities for performance. As with a round, each instrument plays the same passages, but starting at different intervals. The ingenious overlapping creates the intricate sounds when the instruments play off of each other in the world's most beloved canon. For intermediate to advanced performers.______________________________________Text from the scanned back cover:JohannPachelbel(1653-1706)Johann Pachelbel wasa leading organist andcomposer of the Baroqueperiod. Most of hiscompositions are sacredchoral music and organsolos featuring elaboratecounterpoint. He was awell-respected teacher, andone of his students was J.S.Bach’s father.Pachelbel composed hisCanon and Gigue in DMajor for 3 Violins andContinuo, or bass-andchordsaccompaniment. Theterm “canon” signifies thatall three violinists playedthe same part, startingat different times, justlike a round. Pachelbel’sCanon is also a chaconne, which means it is builtover a repeating chordprogression.

Pachelbel Canon
I am delighted with this trio. As 3 musicians who are all basically pianists I find it very difficult to obtain trios of a suitable standard. With this arrangement the flute and clarinet parts are not too difficult and the 3 parts blend together well.
