Pacem (A hymn for peace)
I am only in high school, I am also in my final year, and this is the year we play Pacem. I have never heard this song before but as soon as my director played it for us I fell in love almost instantly. I am first chair trumpet so I unknowingly had the solo. I was scared half to death when I saw the word solo because never before in concert band had I had a solo. Our band, almost flawlessly, sightread that song for the very first time and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. To make such music like that between high school students is something I would love to relive again and again. Over and Over. That high C that I play as a 1st trumpet I got chills after I played it. I'm glad I get to end my high school career starting with this song.
