With over 500 songs to his credit, American composer Harold Arlen's "Over the Rainbow" is still ranked as his number one song. First introduced by Judy Garland in the 1939 film, it has been covered countless times and is a standard in the Great American Songbook.
Who would have thought that the song almost didn’t make it to the screen? The producers felt it slowed the pace, but they still wanted a sentimental song.
To honour the 40th anniversary of Arlen's succumbing to Cancer, this version resonates with one's soul with its emotional longing for a better, more peaceful world.
This arrangement is for British-style Brass Band Instruments with optional drums. There are also alternate French Horn and bass clef parts for the lower 2 voices.
