De componist Frederick Ellsworth Bigelon (1873-1929) was een apotheker uit de Ameri-kaanse staat Massachusetts die in zijn vrije tijd klarinet en saxofoon speelde. Hij componeerde deze mars in 1892 voor Jospeh Morrisette, dirigent van de Ashland Brass Band. De mars werd enorm populair en werd voor allerlei instrumenten en orkestvormen gepubliceerd. De trio werd in 1916 het officiële strijdlied van de studenten van Harvard en tijdens W.O.I werd het als vrijheidslied gezongen. Gosling Mol maakte dit geslaagde arrangement voor HaFa in 1960.

Compo-ser Frederick Ellsworth Bigelon (1873-1929) was a pharmacist living in Massachusetts who played the clarinet and the saxophone in his spare time. He composed this march in 1892 for Joseph Morrisette, conductor of the Ashland Brass Band. The march become extremely popular and was published in different instrumental and orchestral arrangements. The trio became the official students' war song at Harvard University in 1916 and was sung as a liberation song during World War I. Gosling Mol made this fine arrangement for symphonic and fanfa-re band in 1960.
