The mastery of Joyce Jones is seen in these moving and exciting arrangements of 14 familiar hymns. Some will require more work than others, but all promise to be inspiring additions to worship services. Any will also make terrific recital selections. Joyce Jones is a very talented organist and composer, with monumental organ playing technique. As far as her compositional skills, this album is similar to other albums that I have played through and/or owned. Some of the selections are very good, and some are good, but 2 or 3 are not as good. The strongest offerings are Come Ye Sinners, Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken, Holy, Holy, Holy, Jesus, Lover of My Soul, and My Hope is Built on Christ, the Solid Rock. The rest are pretty good, but I was highly disappointed in Marching to Zion. Not so much in the writing, but the piece was way too short. It was over almost before you started playing it. All said, except for 1 or 2 of them, this is a useful collection.
