Composed by Paul James Zaza. Arranged by Peet du Toit. This edition: pdf. Baroque. 1 pages. Peet du Toit #1449449. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1890887).This organ concerto (as well as No. 4 in F) were written to be performed at Covent Garden theatre alongside other pieces by Händel. No. 1 was first performed beside his latest oratorio Alexander's Feast in February 1736.
Händel himself was the organist on this occasion, his virtuoso paying complementing that of the Italian singers in his opera company.
The concerto was written for a small organ with very few varieties of tone (or stops) and with no bass pedals. This suggests that the Covent Garden was not as big and splended, compared to some others having these functions.
I transcribed this beautiful piece for Violin and Cello. May you also enjoy it.
