Here is a free swinging, remarkable chart from a new writer for Sierra. Allan Ganley's reputation and legacy in England drew our attention to this marvelous arrangement of "One Morning in May." The arrangement is recorded on the CD June Time (Vocalion), and stands among the best versions out there. Starting with a soft, swinging ensemble, the chart moves into space for blowing for tenor saxophone and trumpet, returning to the initial feel with a wonderful, warm ending. All brass ranges are very moderate. This will be a great addition to any jazz band library. 5-4-4-4.
