This arrangement is to teach the "block-chord" style. An opening page gives an exercise for the block-chord scale. It's a wonderful way to master block chords in the RH, which can then be applied to other tunes and arrangements. As a teacher of jazz, harmony, composition, and arranging, I have found that RH chord arrangements are lacking in even some advanced students. This "workout" with added improvisation really pulls a student along! It is written with the expectation that the student can syncopate the RH to get a swing sound. .
