On the Street Corner is written for 4-7 octaves of handbells. It is a Level 3+ piece in a bluesy, doo-wop style with plenty of syncopation, malleting, and four-in-hand flourishes.
The piece hearkens back to singers on a street corner singing a basic doo-wop style song with improvisation over the top of a repeating bass pattern. This is a fun handbell arrangement suitable for community and school ensembles and is sure to get the audience clapping or at least snapping their fingers and tapping their feet.
