Composed by Jaroslav Labský. Arranged by Albert Schwarzmann. This edition: pdf. 20th Century, March, Romantic Period. 50 pages. Edition Schwalbe #1173350. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1602806).
Jaroslav Labský was born in the KIngdom of Bohemia, which was part of Austria-Hungary. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, and after years as orchestra and military musician he became military bandmaster in the Austrian-Hungarian army. From 1916 to 1918 he conducted the Imperial and Royal Infantry Regiment No. 37, for which he composed the Olympiade March. It was intended as a reference to the Olympic Games 1916, which could not take place because of World War I. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
