In the title “Ole Gappa,” “Ole” is an exclamatory word used like a call or shout, while “Gappa” is said to carry a meaning similar to “cute,” referring to a cute young girl.
This arrangement was created so that it can be performed by four C flutes.
A typical tango rhythm, with a clearly articulated beat on every count, dominates the entire piece. Especially in the rhythm parts, faithfully observing the articulations indicated in the score will bring out a tight, lively beat, even within the relaxed, flowing melody.
