Ohne Hoelderlin was written for Saarbrucken's festival "Musik im 20. Jahrhundert". The two instruments devote themselves to exploring the multi-faceted possibilities of mixing and blending their sounds until they reach a "table-shoving" coda, which closes the work "with extreme vehemence".
