A journey from self-deprecating despair to hope.
This is a wonderful piece, taken from Walt Whitman's famous poem of the same name. Beginning in D minor with the choir singing the first 2 lines of the poem, it continues with a hauntingly beautiful cello interlude, leading to the next few verses. As the poem veers toward a more positive message, the song modulates to a Major key, with the piano and cello playing beautiful melodies as the choir accompanies. The song ends with the choir singing a line of dialogue from Robin Williams' character in Dead Poets Society.
