A comic, men's barbershop arrangement about a guy who lives next door to a family with a daughter who is senenaded nightly by her lover. This song has an interesting history. Back in the days when theaters had organists to play along with silent movies, the song became the first in a long line of "follow-the-bouncing-ball" features preceding the main attractions. The words were projected on the screen, so the audience could sing along with the organist. The audience loved it and apparently wouldn't let the projector operator start the main show until he'd shown Oh Mabel several times. This pairs nicely with another song called Up In Mabel's Room.
