Recorded by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, it became an international hit in 1969, WIth an up-beat piano accompaniment, this arrangement is very 'clappable' and will appeal to most audiences. The middle section beginning 'He taught me...' is designed to be a sudden contrast, loud and proud. The ending is 'triumphant' and abrupt.
