"Oh, Death" is an Appalachian folk song attributed to Lloyd Chandler, an American Baptist preacher, though its origins may date back as far as Ireland in the 1870s. In spite of its older origin, the song has been featured heavily in modern film, TV and video games. This arrangement fixates on the conversation between Death and the dying man. The unison tenor and bass lines may be performed as a group or as solos, while the four voice chorus sections emulates the cries of many who, in vain, beg Death for another year when their time is up.
