Walch was a 19th Century organist, composer, saleman, conductor, and hymnist. Thomson was a 19th Century hymnist from the UK. This hymn is missions oriented in nature. Sections A and C are the verse. Section B and D are the refrain. A modulation to a new key occurs towards the end of B section with the help of a German augmented sixth chord. Section C introduces a descant by yours truly.
