An Excellent Purchase.
4 is my overall rating. However I would rate some of these arrangements 5. I am a flutist and have enjoyed this book very much. I especially like this arrangement of 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow' (set in a sort of CW blues mood) which I've played numerous times at church and community gatherings and worship services as well as funerals and memorial services. Also 'Be Thou My Vision,' There Is A Fountain' and ' Just As I Am' are some of my favorites. The CD is great for services too when it's difficult to find an accompanist. The arrangements are not technically difficult but the range may challenge younger players as well as some of the rhythmic/meter settings and tempos. Overall I highly recommend this collection and applaud Gary Hallquist's creation of some interesting arrangements of familiar hymns.
