Robert Shaw has added tempo indication and expressive and dynamic marks, which indicates his feelings about how the piece should be realized in contemporary performance giving modern conductors the guidance of one of America's foremost choral musicians. The English translation is one of the most beautiful and moving Latin sacred texts: “All ye who pass by, see if there is any sorrow like unto my sorrow.” Give your choir and congregation the opportunity to experience the music de Victoria wrote for his Master.
