O Mio Babbino Caro Beginning Intermediate Level Some of the most beautiful operas ever written are by Giacomo Puccini. Some of these operas include Madam Butterfly, La Boheme, Tosca and Gianni Schicchi. From these operas come the most beautiful and beloved arias within the operatic world. One such area is O Mio Babbino Caro whichtranslated means..."Oh my dear Papa". This aria is celebrated for it's emotional depth and lyrical beauty and is a staple in the soprano repertoire. It isoften performed and recorded throughout the world. This particular arrangement is written for the beginning intermediate string orchestra but can certainly be performed by more advanced groups. It starts in G Major and modulates to C Major and it is my desire that it will create an opportunity for your students to play with feeling and allow their sensitivity, emotion and passion shine througout.
