Composed by Ken Litton. Arranged by Ken Litton. This edition: pdf. Advent, Christian, Christmas, Religious, Sacred. 12 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #1288234. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1725838).
O Come, Emmanuel Text by John M. Neale and Henry S. Coffin Music by Ken Litton (ASCAP) SATB with opt. Cello
O Come, Emmanuel Text by John M. Neale and Henry S. Coffin Music by Ken Litton (ASCAP) SATB accompanied (opt. Cello)
This new setting of the great hymn text by John Mason Neale and Henry Sloane Coffin combines the familiarity of well-know poetry in a familiar translation with a memorable new melody that retains the modal feel with which it is traditionally associated.
The voicings range from unison all the way to four-part, in which a dramatic middle section intensifies the appeal of the original refrain. Finally, an optional solo (or a few voices) help provide the climactic “Shall come to thee, O Israel,” once more identifying the coming Messiah as Emmanuel, God with us.
The supportive, occasionally syncopated accompaniment is both consistent and about as simple as possible with very little in the left hand beyond beat three of any measure, especially when the right hand is active.
East of the Altar/Artist of Note arrangements are designed for choirs of medium ability, but of large interest in leading worship, exhorting believers and making dsciples. Each is offered with true choral, accompaniment and stylistic integrity in voicings and ranges that set the melodies and harmonies—and, most importantly the text—in a singable and playable version that can be achieved within less than desirable rehearsal limitations.
