Great Piano Reduction
Although this piano reduction of several of the beloved pieces from the Nutcracker Suite dates back to the 1940s, it is one of the best, if not the best, collections at this level. Richter manages to capture the essence and beauty of Tchaikovsky's music in an early intermediate/intermediate level.

My Favorite Arrangement
I simply love this arrangement of the Nutcracker. Richter had a policy that she would never alter the rhythm of any piece even when arranging the work for elementary students. That policy always made her arrangements stay true to the original work, and this arrangement is no exception. I always end up having to order another couple of copies of this work every year, and I do so happily. My students have always loved the arrangements, and they love the story line that is included. I appreciate the emphasis on various articulations that are not overridden by over-pedaling. I just do not have anything I could think of to say bad about this work!
