This setting of the hymn tune PLEADING SAVIOR reflects the pedigree of the tune (1830) and text (1791) with spare harmonies and a plaintive organ accompaniment. In fact, though marked "SATB," in 40 out of the 44 measures the tenors and basses are in unison. The result is a useful and sensitive anthem, quite accessible for any size choir.
