This exiting 6/8 piece conveys the daring adventures of voyages during the Viking Age, sailing aboard Norse longships in the Baltic Sea. This heavy, accented melody uses frequent doubling between sections for a full hearty sound that rings out like the songs of the sailors and Vikings as they navigated the high seas. The bowings and articulations throughout this piece create energy and drama, with Violin I, Bass, and Cello venturing briefly out of first position.
