None But The Lonely Heart

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed a set of six romances for voice and piano, Op. 6, in late 1869. The last of these songs is the melancholy "None But The Lonely Heart", a tender, expressive, and delicate song, easy to learn and sing. This arrangement can be sung by any combinationof voices, TB, SA, SATB, male or female, duet, quartet, chorus, and so on. The English lyrics are not a literal translation of the Russian, but capture the emotions of sadness, longing, and being parted from loved ones. The unison voices divide at measure 38, where the song begins the climb to its climax. At 44, a sempre decrescendo brings the song to a quiet, mournful close.Learning tracks are available at no cost from the arranger: [email protected].
