De Nederlandse componist Meindert Boekel (Amsterdam, 1914 – Hilversum, 1989) werd internationaal bekend dank zij het Scherzo uit zijn 'Suite Classique' dat door Molenaar Edition in 1948 werd uitgegeven. Boekel was een pionnier van de blaasmuziek in Nederland en werd ook nog bekend als eerste dirigent van de Nationale Brass Band in 1962. Hij componeerde een zestigtal werken voor blaasorkest waaronder heel wat religieus geïnspireerd zijn.

The Dutch composer Meindert Boekel (Amsterdam, 1914 – Hilversum, 1989) became famous because of the Scherzo from his 'Suite Classique' already published by Molenaar Edition in 1948. Boekel was, no doubt, one of the pioneers of modern wind music in The Netherlands. He became popular as the first conductor of the Dutch National Brass Band in 1962. He composed some sixty works for band; several of them were of religious inspiration.

Le compositeur néerlandais Meindert Boekel (Amsterdam, 1914 – Hilversum, 1989) devint célèbre grâce au Scherzo de sa 'Suite Classique' éditée par les Editions Molenaar dès 1948. Boekel fut l'un des pionniers de la musique pour orchestres à vents aux Pays-Bas et connut sa gloire comme premier chef d'orchestre du Brass Band National en 1962. Il a composé une soixantaine d'œuvres pour orchestres à vents, souvent à caractère religieux.

Boekel war ein Pionier der Blasmuik in den Niederlanden und wurde auch bekannt als Gründer und erster Dirigent der Nationalen Brass Band in 1962. Er komponierte etwa sechzig Werke für Blasorchester unter denen viele religiös inspiriert sind.
