These Nocturnes are my favorite work. I recently reviewed the Alfred edition but now the binding is falling apart and I'm finding bad phrasing in them. Almost all of Joseffy Chopin are really accurate, which is nice. I also like the phrasing a lot more in here than I do in the Alfred edition. For example, the E Minor phrasing in the introduction should keep going like the Schirmer edition says. However, in the Alfred edition, the phrasing breaks up the introduction into different parts which doesn't sound that nice. This book stays open as well if you use it enough, and the fingerings were great. Keep in mind that two Posthumous Nocturnes aren't included: C Minor and C-Sharp Minor. However, I'd advise to get an urtext edition of C-Sharp Minor Posth. because of how many variants there are. I haven't played the C-Minor one yet so I can't suggest anything.

I fell in love with Chopin a long time ago, but this nocturne book only solidified my love for him and made me realize why he remains my favorite composer. The songs in here are among my favorites of his entire work (I'm a sucker for melancholy, emotional, gorgeous works) and I treasure my Nocturne book more than all my other piano books. I wish I were a better pianist, because some of these songs are TOUGH! It just takes a lot of practice. :) My first nocturne was the Eb major one (Op. 9/ No. 2) and it thus remains dear to me, but I also find myself fascinated with Op. 72's terribly painful melody (and harmony in the left hand). Then, i could listen to Op 9/1 all day. I've also learned the f minor one (Op. 55/ No. 1) Buy this book, this gift of God from heaven unto man and all creation! :) Seriously. It's GORGEOUS. Mwah! <3

I am very pleased to have the rest of Chopin's Nocturnes and am enjoying learning new pieces to play that are so beautiful.
