Cover versions have been recorded by artists from Mahalia Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby and Sam Cooke to John Denver and The Muppets. It is largely considered a gospel song, but is included in many hymnals of various religious denominations. Both instruments in this duo arrangement equally share in voicing the solo melody.
