Nine Lives is a short drum-set etude exploring subdivisions ranging from 1-9. For "1," the focus of the passage is keeping a steady quarter note pulse, for "2," the pulse is subdivided into eighth notes, for "3," eighth-note triplets, and so on. By the end, players will subdivide the beat all the way to "9," playing nonuplets! While the piece is short, there is a great deal of material packed into it and will require extensive training with the metronome to be successful.
