Night Walk was commissioned and dedicated to the Lamphere High School Jazz Ensemble, Madison Heights, Michigan, directed by Kenneth Milch. Night Walk
Opens with sort of a smoky feel to it...tumbao bass part is a challenge throughout. 3+2 clave goes to 2+3 in the B section. A few fingerbusters for the saxes and piano. Drummer should be comfortable with latin style because rock beats won't cut it! Precision is a must for the brasses. Students loved playing it and audience loved hearing it.
