This version of the prince's aria is for string ensemble with the main melodic line, normally sung by the tenor, being taken over by solo violin at 8va. Due to the orchestral nature of the original piece, and the reduced number of instrument groups available in a string ensemble, there is some use of divisi to add depth and interest to the harmonic lines, keeping the general character and emotional color in accordance with the original idea. At just under three minutes long, this is a great little piece to play, for example as an encore, or to open a concert and capture the audience's attention.
